Did you know that about 8 million Spanish people on the roads struggle to see road signs and markings clearly?
This fact, amongst many other discoveries, is what emerged from a study carried out by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in collaboration with Essilor, the world’s leading ophthalmic lens company. The objective of the study was to raise public awareness about the important of a good vision on the highway.
As a result of this, Kimoa, having been linked to the world of Racing since its outset, joined the campaign to support the cause under the motto of “Friends at the wheel”.
Accident Prevention and Road Safety
The state of ones visual health is considered a key aspect of road safety, for this reason a study has been carried out on more than 3,200 drivers from all over Spain by FESVIAL (Foundation for Road Safety) and INTRAS (Research Institute in Traffic and Road Safety of the University of Valencia) to investigate the importance of certain related factors as possible causes of accident.
Among them you can find ametropia (myopia or farsightedness), visual acuity, glare (when leaving a tunnel or in night driving conditions) as well as campimetry (deficiency in the extension of the visual field).
Therefore, it is recommended that when driving a vehicle, someone receives as much visual information as possible so they can react quickly and safely should they have to. This may involve sunglasses in bright lights to avoid glare, as well as the body´s natural ability to improve vision in bright light.
