In Kimoa whenever we think about designing a new model of sunglasses we use to think in those cities that look over the sea and inspire us so much, and this is where it came the idea of the Barcelona line.
They are sunglasses with a lightweight frame, a slightly rounded shape, thin side piece, which flatter most of the faces, and they are perfect for the city, the mountain or the sea. These are precisely the three landscapes you can find in Barcelona. And now we are going to give you a tour around this city Kimoa style, and we will tell you about our favourite corners.
WHERE SHOULD YOU EAT IN BARCELONA?
Enjoy the most genuine Catalan food at El Xampanyet savouring their tapas, montaditos (small sandwiches) and tinned food, at an aperitif bar that is proudly open since 1921. Can Paixano is the perfect place to savour local cured meat sandwiches paired with a nice cava in a distended environment. Go up to Terraza Martínez, which is located in the summit of Montjuic, on its sea side, to treat yourself with its vast variety of rice and a beer genuinely from Barcelona: the Moritz beer. However, if you are looking for incredible views that overlook the city of Barcelona while you discover a menu that contains the best products brought from all the best harbour markets of Spain, you must visit Marea Alta.
WHAT SHOULD YOU VISIT IN BARCELONA?
If you love medieval architecture you have to visit the Cathedral of Santa Cruz and Santa Eulalia, which dates back from century 14th, the Monastery of Pedralbes, in the upper side of the town, the Basilica of Santa María del Mar, best known as The Cathedral of the Sea due to the book titled the same way, the Royal Ataranzas, currently the Maritime Museum, and obviously you have to go for a walk in the Borne or the Gothic neighbourhoods.
To those followers of the modernist trend, the Eixample architecture would be a good sample, but don’t miss its most famous monuments, the ones that made so famous Barcelona city, such as the Sagrada Família, the Pedrera, the Casa Baltó, the Casa Vicens, the Güell Park or Palace, all of them masterworks of Antonio Gaudí.
And if you travel with children, we recommend you to go for a walk in the Ciutadella Park, to visit the Aquarium or the Tibidabo Theme Park. Any of these places will put a happy face on the young ones.
SOUVENIRS
As an unforgettable souvenir of your visit to Barcelona we recommend you the Cereria Subirà craft candles, a business that has been open to the public since 1761, and the exclusive fragrances of Carner Barcelona, with its original packaging. Another option would be a chocolates box with the traditional flower you will see in the tiles that decorate the sidewalks of the city, which are a creation of the famous chocolatier Enric Rovira.
WHERE SHOULD I SLEEP
The accommodation offer of the city is endless. You can sleep in a hostel, a more juvenile and funny option at an affordable price, or you can sleep in any of the world famous hotel chains with lots of stars. But, if there is a hotel that summarizes our brand lifestyle, it would be, without a doubt, the Hotel Brummell, located in the Pueblo Seco area. It is genuinely an urban tropical oasis where you can enjoy the best breakfasts, exhibitions of artists from everywhere, swim in its already famous mini-swimming pool, where take place the most fun parties of the city, and you can even programme a visit, if you attend to any of her lessons, with the famous neighbour and yogi Verónica Blume.
WHAT MUST YOU HAVE CARRY WITH YOU
Luckily for all its visitors, Barcelona is a city where the weather is usually pretty good, so don’t forget to take with you a pair of sunglasses, and there aren’t any better sunglasses than the Barcelona model by Kimoa, in order to pay tribute to the city. And get quickly a helmet. Keep reading and you’ll discover why
ADVICE
We dare you to go all over the city riding a motorbike, like if you were like any other local. The motorbike is the favourite means of transport for the true inhabitants of Barcelona.
